tech support - "sorry - this program not supported - no tech support for you!"
Published on July 4, 2013 By betawolf In Stardock Central Support

back in the beta days, SC would sometimes fail to locate the programs. i would just unload/reload and everything was fine. now, out of beta SC just will not see any of my programs (i have a lot). i just got off the phone with Norton (360) and confirmed it is not a Norton issue. i left off with Stardock tech support with "well, i don't know what the issue is and since this is a free program it is not support - case closed"(their words-not mine).

i have unloaded and reloaded several times. it defaults to the USER file and i re-direct it to the proper files in programs(86). as it tries to read the files, i get a message that i have to have an Internet connection (i do - all the time). my system is W7 and is current.

is it that this program just will not work now that it is not beta? any help out there?

thanks

This may be a silly question betawolf, but have you looked at all your settings in Stardock Central to be sure programs are not hidden by accident? Been using Stardock Central here and current version is 2.85, is that what you have installed?

Other than that, only thing I would recommend is putting everything back to normal GUI settings for your OS and then completely uninstalling everything Stardock using Stardock's ODNT Zapper ( http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/odnt_zapper.exe ).  I would then running a quality registry cleaner, like CCleaner or Wise Registry Cleaner (several times to be sure).

I would then reboot and run the registry cleaner(s) again to be sure, then install the latest Stardock Central and continue from there with your Stardock software installs.

not silly at all - thanks for the reply. yes - checked and re-checked. this ODNT Zapper - this gets rid of everything or can you be selective? i notice when i unload SC now, it goes quickly. i am sure it is now deleting all the associate files. do you know of a programs that will fully clean up just the specific program? i do have CCleaner and have run several times. i am getting the feeling that - at least in the case of my system - it may not be worth the effort at this point.

If I were you, I'd do as Lightstar suggested. Uninstall all the SD ssoftware as well as SDC then clean the registry, reboot. Reinstall sdc and proceed from there.

*Make sure to put the Windows default icons back for all you've replaced,*

*Make sure to apply the default Windows Aero theme before uninstalling Windowblinds.*

If you do this in the order suggested to you, sdc will register all your currently valid Stardock software.

If your software is out of subscription, make sure to download all the installers for your software from the store before doing the above.

thanks y'all:

1st attempt - unloaded every Stardock file i had in my system. reloaded every program that was of any value to me. loaded SC- did not see any of the programs i just loaded. i did however see the subscription files i have (2 of them).

2nd attempt - unloaded all files (note: stripping out all registry references takes several hours)- loaded SD first put in my email and password - it recognized my account - it did not update any of the files - i reloaded the programs i wanted and SD still does not see them.

3rd attempt - removed ALL system protection including firewall and any programs that enhance and support W7 (like Tuneup 2013) - followed #2 - no luck.

4th attempt - same as 3rd attempt except i did the 1st try. no luck

total time trying to see if SD will work 12 and a half hours (not done yet - i have to replace programs that i figured SD didn't like). I am a little OCD.

anyway i see that i am not the only person with SC issues. i know that Tech support will not offer support for programs that are free. i would be willing to buy the program is i could get successful support. since i have a lot of Stardock product (both for cost and free) SD is a great program - probably the best utility - when it works.

Just a suggestion

When You load Stardock Central you get the window for updates.

At the top of the screen it says Stardock Central

Below that it says Downloads       if you move your mouse next to the word downloads you will see the word installed click on this and you should see the installed software.

on my computer you cant see the word installed until moused over!

yes - it does highlight

on Jul 09, 2013

If you click on it    it should open the window that shows installed software

after clicking on the line, the box is still blank

Never mind. I repeated what was already said.

I tried a few things and the only way I could duplicate your situation was by blocking all internet access for stardock central in my firewall

check to make sure it hasn't accidently become blocked in your firewall settings
